When it comes to Android updates, the South Korean smartphone manufacturer Samsung is considered the great role model. And so it is currently not at all surprising that Samsung is announcing an update for the Galaxy S23 trio in its home forum, which will probably bring new camera functions with it.

Samsung teases new camera features for the Galaxy S23 trio
Proud owners of a Samsung Galaxy S23, S23+ or even Galaxy S23 Ultra (test) certainly cannot complain about the South Korean manufacturer’s update policy. In Android circles it is considered to be the ultimate role model. Even Google can’t always keep up with what Samsung promises.

If some fans had already expected new (leaked) camera functions for the recently distributed May update, they were probably disappointed because it was primarily a security update. But hope dies last, according to Samsung, and so the company is now announcing new camera functions in its local community forum, as the well-known tipster “Ice Universe” announces on its Twitter channel.
Samsung wants to offer 2x portrait zoom via update

Not only should the night mode undergo some revisions and improvements, but the 2x portrait zoom that many are missing should come via OTA (Over the Air) update. A function that has been requested by the community for a long time and is standard in our test of the Google Pixel 7 Pro, for example. The Samsung Galaxy S23 (test) and its band colleagues currently have a choice of either the 12 MP telephoto zoom or the main camera without magnification.
Other manufacturers such as Apple and Xiaomi simply “zoom into the image sensor” on the main camera. Samsung will probably implement the same principle with its camera update, which is expected shortly. For the Samsung Galaxy S24, S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra, a 2x portrait zoom is expected directly from the factory.
